This is a pic of me and my dad on my first birthday. It’s an interesting picture for me because he was there when I began my life but he didn’t make it to see how my life would unfold. He died when I was 9 from a heart attack at the age of 36. And this tragedy has shaped every aspect of my life. And on days like today, the older I get the more I’ve come to appreciate fathers day. Because even though my dad wasn’t around much because of his battle with alcoholism. He did help facilitate my life and for this I’m extremely grateful. I’ve learned to make peace with who he was in life and death. I wish every father, a #happyfathersday and if your dad is still around I encourage you to drop them a text or a call even if the relationship is strained. There is much healing and peace in giving honor today to the man God used to create you. ~~~~~~Pastor Devon Franklin
